Thank You for All Your Support

It is that time of year to look back and count our blessings.

Here, at Essence Cakes, we wish to thank everyone for their support. We thank those who came in to place orders, those who just stopped to see what the place was about, and those who supported us with prayers and donations. Did I say donations? Yes, donations. One beautiful Saturday, a lady walked into the bake shop with 3 sets of baking pans in hand. She handed them over to me and said: This is for you. Why? I asked.  Why are you giving these to me?

She said: I just feel like it. This is a gesture of my support of your bake shop. 

Needless to say, I was stunned. I was not expecting that act of kindness from a stranger. Thank you, Coleen. God bless you and yours.

We thank our customers who have actively campaigned for us by telling others about Essence Cakes. We thank you all for your continued patronage and referrals. May all your wishes come true. We must also thank those clients who found the time to give us feedback on their orders. We take every thing you tell us to heart.

Thank you to those who are sending prayers our way; those who come in and say words of encouragement that keep us going - from your lips to God's ears.

We also want to thank those organizations that allowed us to be a part of their events. We were honoured to have participated.

Batman Cake

A lady requested black tinted cake for her son's Batman-themed first birthday cake - smash cake and 24 cupcakes. So, we went to work.

1. First, we made the black batter

2. Baked the cake and cupcakes. They looked dark brown when they came out of the oven

3. Placed cake and cupcakes in boxes. Darkened as they cooled.

Mickey and Minnie Mouse Cakes

This year, I was contacted by Yvette and Stuart to make cakes for their twins' first birthday. I had been contacted in the past to make cakes for Brooke and Joshua.

For the twins, we made a Mickey Mouse cake for William and Minnie Mouse cake for Kennedy.

Silver Patron Tequila bottle cake

We made this cake for a client, Alisa, who was kind enough to bring a bottle of this drink (empty. of course) to the bake shop to help us with the carving.

Alisa was quite thrilled with what we did. Here is the pic.

Birthday Cupcakes

 I just love this cupcake order. Beautiful colour combination.

How much is that cake?

I get this question from clients, despite the fact that we have pricing guidelines on the website that clearly state the starting prices of our cakes.
I cannot recount the number of times I have repeated this answer: "At Essence Cakes, we make custom cakes and do not have fixed prices for cakes. The price of a cake depends on the cake type, filling, design, and decorative elements required on the cake.” You would think this explanation would help, right? Nope, because the client usually follows with: "That cake on your website (followed by cake description), how much is it?" Pardon me; I am not able to give you a price because I do not remember the cake details off head. However, if you give me the details of what you are looking for, I will be able to give you a quote based on that.
Just last week, someone walked into the shop and said, "I know you make custom cakes and do not have fixed prices for your cakes because you need certain details.” Great! Here is someone who understands how custom cakes are priced. Then, pointing to a dummy cake, she said, “I want a cake like this one, how much is it?"
Sigh!
